Urban Takeover [United Kingdom]
Aphrodite, Gavin King, and less commonly known as A Zone or DJ Aphro, is a UK jungle and drum n bass DJ/producer who well and truly put the bass in drum & bass. Working alongside Micky Finn on their joint Urban Takeover label, they have released some of the scene’s definitive dancefloor tracks, whilst also having significant solo success (even hitting the UK Top20 in ‘98). One of the oldest drum and bass producers, he largely contributed to and influenced drum and bass’ current styles and techniques. He is also master of “jump-up” drum and bass, i.e. DnB that makes you want to do just that-jump up and dance. DJ Aphrodite is behind Aphrodite Recordings which was inspired by a club he ran in 1988 called (no other than) ‘Aphrodite’. His debut album was a self-titled effort under V2 Recordings released 1st September 2000. The follow up was ‘Aftershock’ which was again released under V2 Recordings on June 24th 2002 featuring artists such as Barrington Levy and WildFlower.

Respect/Junglist Platoon [Los Angeles, CA]
MACHETE ignited his musical journey back in 1992 as DJ Rob G, spinning Hip-Hop at Hollywood afterhours events such as No-Doz, What?, and Caffiend. Los Angeles underground rave culture was in it’s infancy, but Rob found inspiration thanks to techno-infused breakbeat music emerging out of England via vinyl records championed by DJs Raw, Curious, and Oscar da Grouch. These frantic, bass-heavy tracks that evolved from old-school drum breaks layered with HipHop and Reggae samples were intriguing and propelled him in a new direction.
Rob, encouraged by his peers, changed his professional name to Machete in 1994…a title meant to evoke the nature of his mixing and cutting skills in relation to this new Jungle music.
As DJ Machete, Rob helped put Junglist Platoon on the map scoring gigs at nearly every Jungle party in the Greater Los Angeles area.
A brief residency with Los Angeles mega-promoter Insomniac, plus a noted mention in URB Magazine’s NEXT 100 Issue (1998) also garnered much attention. Rob was then featured on various dates of the infamous KungFu-Knowledge Tour of 1999, placing DJ Machete alongside many of the world’s best including DJ Craze, Mampi Swift, and Rob Playford.
Machete is well-traveled and has showcased his skills internationally in Italy, Costa Rica, Canada, plus numerous cities and states across the USA. In March of 1999 the Junglist Platoon began hosting a weekly event called RESPECT with Machete in charge of talent bookings, promotions, as well as being a resident DJ. In March of 2000, Machete organized a RESPECT one-off at the Winter Music Conference in Miami which successfully placed the RESPECT brand at the forefront of Los Angeles Drum and Bass.
After 13+ years, RESPECT is the longest running Jungle/Drum and Bass weekly in Los Angeles in addition to being one of the most successful clubs in the United States. RESPECT is globally known for bringing the best international and stateside talent and continues to do so after settling into it’s fifth and most current venue, The Dragonfly in Hollywood.
In 2012 Machete is busier than ever, occasionally opening for mainstream Hip-Hop acts at House of Blues – Sunset Strip combined with DJ residencies at RESPECT, spinning at one-off events, hosting a weekly RESPECT DnB RADIO program, taking on a new role as an agent at Circle Talent Agency, and engaging production projects proving his versatility as an artist.

FRANKIE BONES
OHHGEE MANAGEMENT [New York, NY]
Frankie Bones (real name Frank Mitchell) is an American techno and house music disc jockey from New York City. He is best known for bringing the rave culture to the United States after playing at a hangar party in the UK during 1989. Frankie Bones, the first American DJ to play these raves, is considered to be 'The Godfather of American Rave Culture'. He got his first inspiration from his father's vast record collection after his father was murdered. Later on, after he had begun producing records, he was offered a gig to play for 5,000 people in England called "Energy" on the strength of his compositions. As the event started on August 26, 1989, the projected attendance had gone through the roof and Frankie played to 25,000 people while the sun came up.
Being profoundly moved by the experience, he brought it back to Brooklyn in the form of his series of Storm Raves. The Storm Raves events began with only a few hundred people in attendance growing to over 5,000 where the likes of Josh Wink, Doc Martin, Sven Väth, DJ Keoki and Richie Hawtin were able to launch their performances into international careers. During this period Frankie also is credited with being the creator of PLUR.

Doc Martin’s live sets truly bring people together. The variation in his style of music is endless. What makes him so different from the rest? A unique ability to spin everything from deep house vocals that have much depth and meaning to us all in some way, to his funky tribal Bass lines mixed with threads of acid, his passive collection of classics rare records that are only to be heard at his gigs. Doc Martin has developed the respect as a house DJ that so many of us admire. It is this respect that keeps him constantly touring; from New York to London, Japan, and everywhere in between.
Doc Martin and singer / songwriter Lillia are recognized for their Sublevel Live shows and Underground events in Los Angeles. Together they started the Sublevel record label based out of Los Angeles and have toured Asia, Europe, USA & Canada .

FRANKIE BONES
OHHGEE MANAGEMENT [New York, NY]
Frankie Bones (real name Frank Mitchell) is an American techno and house music disc jockey from New York City. He is best known for bringing the rave culture to the United States after playing at a hangar party in the UK during 1989. Frankie Bones, the first American DJ to play these raves, is considered to be 'The Godfather of American Rave Culture'. He got his first inspiration from his father's vast record collection after his father was murdered. Later on, after he had begun producing records, he was offered a gig to play for 5,000 people in England called "Energy" on the strength of his compositions. As the event started on August 26, 1989, the projected attendance had gone through the roof and Frankie played to 25,000 people while the sun came up.
Being profoundly moved by the experience, he brought it back to Brooklyn in the form of his series of Storm Raves. The Storm Raves events began with only a few hundred people in attendance growing to over 5,000 where the likes of Josh Wink, Doc Martin, Sven Väth, DJ Keoki and Richie Hawtin were able to launch their performances into international careers. During this period Frankie also is credited with being the creator of PLUR.

Fifteen years deep, DJ PARALLAX continues to push the dance music envelope with his evolving style. His sets have been witnessed throughout the United States, Canada, & Europe. His acclaimed THUMP mix series has been credited with resurrecting and reintroducing the sounds of Speed Garage, Bassline and 4×4 UK Garage in North America. His newest endeavor, “The Sunday Scene” radio program on Digitally Imported’s UK Garage channel, continues to garner him global attention for his music selection and mixing skills. Hailing from Boston, he continues to be a staple for dance floors on the east coast and beyond.
